HDFC among world’s 7 best companies

HDFC’s success story is now known across the globe.

The housing finance major is among the world’s seven best companies from the financial services space to sustain a competitive advantage in the long term, said a study by investment banking giant Goldman Sachs.

Founded by the late Hasmukhbhai Parekh at the age of 60, HDFC set a trend in housing finance since its inception. Today, the company says it has “nearly three million satisfied customers whose dream we helped realise.”

The company’s net profit has surged to Rs 2436.25 crore (Rs 24.36 billion) in 2007-08 from Rs 1570.38 crore (Rs 15.70 billion) in 2006-07.

Headed by Deepak S Parekh, HDFC is a professionally managed organisation with a board of directors consisting of eminent persons from various fields including finance, taxation, construction and urban policy & development.

HDFC was selected as the best ‘Investment Management Company’ in India at the Liquid Real Estate Awards – 2007 organised by Euromoney. HDFC was ranked among the Top 3 Best Managed Companies by FinanceAsia – 2007.

HDFC was ranked seventh by Goldman Sachs.  First six are BBVA, HSBC, Morgan Stanley,  National Australia Bank, Standard Chartered Bank And Banco Bradesco respectively.
